ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

UKAMS is committed to making ukams.org.uk usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people who use assistive technology.

Prepared: 18 August 2026

Accessibility approach

The website is designed with semantic headings, keyboard-operable navigation, visible focus states, responsive reflow, text alternatives for substantive images and respect for reduced-motion preferences. Text may be enlarged with browser controls without loss of the principal content.

Conformance objective

The design and editorial standard is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. The published templates have been reviewed through automated checks and manual inspection of keyboard navigation, headings, focus, contrast, reflow, motion and text alternatives. This statement does not represent an independent accessibility certification.

Known limitations

The decorative moving image in the home-page hero has no spoken content and is replaced by a static poster when reduced motion is preferred. No essential information depends on that video. Historical or externally supplied documents may require a separate accessible version; the relevant publication entry identifies one where applicable.

Alternative formats

Requests for an accessible alternative to an Academy publication or page should identify the material and the format required. UKAMS considers the request and the intended use before responding.

Report a problem

Include the page address, device, browser or assistive technology and the task that could not be completed. Accessibility feedback is considered separately from the merits of any academic or governance decision.

Review

This statement is reviewed after a material change to the website and at least annually.
