PRIVACY NOTICE
This notice explains how UKAMS handles personal information received through its public website and official correspondence routes.
Last reviewed: 18 August 2026
Who is responsible
UK Academy of Management Sciences is responsible for deciding why and how personal information within its institutional records is used. Privacy enquiries may be sent to enquiries@ukams.org.uk.
Information received
When a person writes to UKAMS, the Academy receives the contact details, message and attachments supplied by that person. Website security and delivery logs may record an internet address, request time, browser information and the page requested. The public website does not contain an account area or a general-purpose submission form.
Purposes and lawful bases
Correspondence is used to answer the matter raised, protect the website, prevent misuse, administer Academy processes and maintain an accurate institutional record. Depending on the matter, processing is based on legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Academy, steps requested before an agreement, compliance with a legal obligation, or consent where the law requires it.
Access and disclosure
Access is limited to persons who need the information for the stated purpose. Contracted infrastructure and professional service providers may process limited information under appropriate obligations. Information may be disclosed where required by law, to protect legal rights, or to address a serious security or safety concern.
International processing
Technical service providers may process information in more than one country. Where UK data protection law requires a safeguard for an international transfer, the Academy relies on an applicable adequacy regulation or approved contractual protection.
Retention
Routine enquiries are reviewed for deletion or anonymisation after the matter is concluded and are ordinarily not retained for longer than 24 months. Records needed to establish an institutional decision, resolve a dispute, meet a legal obligation or preserve the integrity of a public record may be kept for a longer defined period.
Storage and access technologies
UKAMS does not configure advertising or behavioural tracking on this website. The current use of cookies and comparable browser storage is described in the Cookie Statement.
Individual rights
Depending on the circumstances, a person may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or an objection to processing. The Academy may request proportionate evidence of identity or authority before disclosing personal information.
Complaints
A privacy concern should first be sent to UKAMS. A person may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Information about that route is available on the ICO website.
Automated decisions
UKAMS does not use website or correspondence data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
